City of Winchester/ VDOT- Bridge Inspections
The City of Winchester currently maintains a contract with Painter-Lewis, P.L.C. to perform inspections for the bridge and culvert structures under the City’s responsibility of facility maintenance. There are currently seven bridge and culvert structures that require bi-annual NHI/FHWA inspections for which the City is responsible. Painter-Lewis continues to manage and perform these inspection services including a thorough documentation of each structure, categorization of all observed defects, accurate documentation of clearance requirements, and traffic control management. Additionally, Painter-Lewis prepares detailed inspection reports for each of these structures to be submitted to the regional Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Bridge Manager. When required by the governing authority, Painter-Lewis includes load rating analyses for these structures. Painter-Lewis has designed our NHI/FHWA bridge inspection program to specifically service local municipalities which own and/or are responsible for non-VDOT maintained structures.
