Taylor Hotel, Old Town Winchester
Built by Bushrod Taylor in 1848 on the site of a previous establishment, the Taylor Hotel fell into disrepair through years of neglect and a partial roof collapse in October 2007. Painter-Lewis, P.L.C. was contracted to provide structural and civil engineering services for the historic structure. Specifically, Painter-Lewis provided structural plans for the new, permanent concrete and steel foundation system for the residential and commercial section of the building. The Taylor Hotel was transformed into apartments and commercial spaces, while the midsection of the building was demolished due to structural deterioration and in its place, a grassy pavilion with stage and farmers market was created.
